Slab Leak Repair at Apartment Complex in San Diego, CA

At an apartment complex, a leak was discovered outside the kitchen wall. We started by turning off the water to the apartment complex and draining the system. The entrance door of unit #17 jackhammered a 1′ x 1′ area at the building’s corner. We dug down and discovered the cause of the leak to be a pinhole in a 1/2′′ copper hot riser in the footing. We cut off the piece with the pinhole leak and repaired it with a new segment of 1/2′′ Type L copper pipe soldered in place. Water was returned to the structure once the repair was completed to check for leaks. At the time of testing, there were no leaks.
